About

Since 1964

In 1964, the Grand Coteau Volunteer Fire Department was established to provide fire protection to the Town of Grand Coteau, Louisiana.

In recent years, the Grand Coteau Fire Department has undergone changes to become a better department and provide better services to our community.

  • We use certified instructors to train our department in modern firefighting techniques and strategies.
  • Our command staff are certified and have many years of experience in both career and volunteer fire departments.
  • Our volunteer staff have a passion for helping the community and train frequently. We have also implemented volunteer certification programs.

After much hard work and dedication, in 2020, The Grand Coteau Fire Department lowered our P.I.A.L. class rating from a Class 10 to a Class 5.

In 2020, the Citizens of Grand Coteau passed a 15 mills tax to provide dedicated funding to the Grand Coteau Fire Department. This much needed funding was crucial in growing our Fire Department into what it is today. We would like to thank the Citizens of Grand Coteau for giving us the funding needed to operate and progress our Fire Department.

Our Staff

The Grand Coteau Fire Department
utilizes part time and volunteer staff to serve Grand Coteau and the surrounding communities.

Our part time firefighter’s are certified and staff the station during the work week to provide coverage while our volunteers are at work. Our volunteer staff respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
